Canopic Jar

Learning Intention:
I will be creating a canopic jar utilizing smooth coil building techniques, additive sculpture making techniques including applique, and subtractive technique through the use of inscribing. I will compare and contrast the differences between these types of sculpture techniques. 

Success Criteria:
  • 8 inches tall
  • Pot curves in an out
  • Coils are the width/size of a finger
  • Has applique (element built into pot)
  • Has a lid with a coil on the inside to secure the pot to the base
  • Lid has an animal, human or fantastical creature element to it
  • Pot is inscribed (element drawn into pot using clay tools)
  • Inside of pot is smooth
  • Demonstrate self-motivation
  • Commitment to good/clean craftsmanship
